Humility and Pride

One thing God has been teaching me lately is humility.  I’m a fairly confident individual, and I think I know what I’m doing when it comes to teaching and leading, but I don’t want that confidence to cross over into arrogance.  I don’t want to be prideful and think I have all the answers.  I don’t want to be prideful and think I am above constructive criticism.  I want to stay confident with a confidence that comes from Jesus, not be arrogant because of what I have learned.

  • Confidence is hearing from God and teaching your people.  Arrogance is thinking that other people aren’t as passionate as you about truth.
  • Confidence is being prayed up and prepared for Sunday.  Arrogance is wondering if Louie will be as good as a teacher when he has to do it every week like you do.
  • Confidence is leading your church with the resources God has given you.  Arrogance is thinking that Perry and Steven and Bill do so much because they have more money.
  • Confidence is teaching your people to invite friends.  Arrogance is blasting other churches for spending money on advertising.
  • Confidence is resting in who God has called me to be.  Arrogance is defending everything on message boards and blogs in order to prove that my way is right.
