Here’s some thoughts from today’s service at The Leaf.
- We finished up the Crossing Over series by talking about Joshua’s prayer that made the sun stand still.
- I challenged our people to pray bold and specific prayers…not wimpy, generic ones.
- The band sounded great today…Joel and Will both led.
- What would happen if we started praying for Cartersville’s Ten Most Pagan people to meet Christ? We could put their pictures up in the office like the wanted posters at the Post Office. Actually, I never go to the post office so I’m not sure they put those posters up anymore.
- I wore dress pants and a tucked in shirt today. Most people thought I was either going to a job interview or a funeral after church. I’ll be back to jeans next week, I’m sure.
- I accidentally said “Joshua’s Farting Men” instead of “Joshua’s Fighting Men.” I’m sure both groups would have been impressive.
- Next week, I’m going to do a very important message that’s not part of a series.
- On July 20, we’re kicking off a three-part series called “SuperNatural.” This will also be our first Sunday back at the movie theater.
- I am really excited about where we are as a church right now as well as where we are going.
- About 60 people asked us to join with them in praying about their sun stand still prayer.
- Every week for the past four weeks, someone has indicated that they have prayed to receive Christ in the service.
- We have a baptism at the lake coming up at the end of the month. It’s one of the coolest events we do. There’s just something about baptizing people out in public that adds extra meaning.
- If you’re planning on giving to the 250 Project, we’re receiving one special offering on July 20. Then, the project is over. A huge thanks to everyone who has given and to those praying about giving. You’re going to help reach tons of people through church at the movies.

Great Sermon, it was both deep and challenging (and funny).
thanks Lee…I am glad you enjoyed it (twice!)
When can we pick up our “farting men” tee shirts?
Seriously, great message Michael, it reminds us all that God is more than a sounding board, He seeks relationship with actual communication using real words.
Great message this morning! Kaela and I were a little challenged as what to pray about when we said the blessing. Our end result–God let us somehow bless the peope we come in contact with by eating this food. I hope that everytime we go out to eat, or we go to the grocery store to get food, that everyone is able to see God shining through us. That’s part of my cray prayer…to be so hidden behind God, that no one can see anything but him.
This morning was absolutely amazing and really changed my prayer life.. although now, I do not know what to pray before I eat.. so at lunch, we decided to pray that God would use us ( my friend and I ) to bless those we came in contact with that day through the meal- sounded better than “bless this food to the nourishment of our bodies” Thanks for challenging us to go to a higher level of prayers.
The whole service was amazing and thought provoking….
The energy was also different from the norm; I felt like we were already back at the theater…
btw.. my Sun Stand Still Prayer- God to provide me with $2000 before I leave for college on Aug 21.
To see my father come to Christ.
