Sunday Recap

We finished up the 80’s series this morning…here are a few thoughts.

  • I talked hard about the subject of tithing.  I am praying that 50 people will step up and take the tithing challenge.
  • We’re asking people who have not tithed to trust God and tithe for three months.  So many times, we do things our way and don’t receive the blessings.  God’s way really is best.
  •  Managing the 90% begins with trusting God and giving 10%.  All 100% belongs to Him and we will be accountable.
  • Matt led worship this morning.  Over the year, I’ve really seen Matt develop as a worship leader.
  • I wore dress pants and a dress shirt.  Lots of people said I looked nice; others wanted to know when the real Michael was coming back.
  • I am kind of glad this series is over, because I’m sick of 80s music.
  • The 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s all had a style of clothing…this decade really doesn’t.
  • Next week, we are celebrating the Lord’s Supper.  I’m really excited about doing communion.
  • The series coming next is called “Summer Reading.”  And after that, we’re going to spend six weeks studying the book of Joshua.  And it’s hard to believe, but after that, the theater campus will be here.
  •  After the first service, we cut some stuff and moved stuff around that really helped the second service go better.
  • Our stage was all green today because Woodland was doing a Dr. Seuss performance.  Based on the lighting and stage design, I bet it was great.
  • It’s Sunday afternoon, and I’m chilling around the house watching the NBA playoffs.

Today was a truly amazing and unique message that isn’t heard in churches very often. I am constantly amazed at what and how God is speaking thru you.
The pants were scary, though… please bring back the jeans obsessed Michael..

Matt rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I liked the dress pants, Michael. I liked seeing this side of you! Great message and great post last Wednesday.

I’ve heard many messages on tithing, and the message you gave Sunday was by far the best… If anyone out there didn’t get it (tithing) before, they should now. It was clear the concept was not meant to enrich the church, but the spirit. You have a real gift for teaching Michael. Now bring back the jeans and untuck the shirt.

I agree with Rebecca. Matt rocks. He’s also a gentleman.

Michael stepped on a lot of toes this time and I’m one of them. We all make excuses, Larry was a pastor and said all those same things that don’t mean a hill of beans. I think Michael hit the nail on the head. We are all afraid to let go and let God… Don’t forget, you can use Paypal for your tithe. It’s great. From the checking to the church. If you don’t touch it, you won’t miss it.

What do you believe about pre-tax and post-tax tithing? I really liked the message and just wanted to know what you think.

i think we should give God the first-fruits, before retirement contributions and taxes. i don’t think it’s right that the government gets the first piece of the pie…I think we should honor God first, and then move on to our earthly responsibilities.
