I Intend to Put You in Harms Way

I was watching Behind Enemy Lines (which was a pretty good movie) the other night and Gene Hackman was giving the cinematic pre-game pep talk to a group of soldiers. Before they got on the choppers to go rescue their man, he said, “Gentlemen, I intend to put you in harms way.”

I immediately thought of all the people we ask to serve and advance God’s kingdom. Leading people from where they are to where God wants them to be is often messy, sticky, and dangerous. Those of you sold out to Oak Leaf Church, you may get beat up a little bit in the process. Following Christ might be tough…in fact, I think it’s supposed to be. Satan doesn’t bother the churches that aren’t doing anything, but he’ll get up in arms when churches grab hold of their divine mission and take it seriously.

So those who want to help advance God’s Kingdom here at Oak Leaf, I intend to put you in harms way. Are you up for the challenge?
