Great morning at Oak Leaf Church today. And we still have our first theater campus launch team meeting tonight. Here’s a little recap.
- Will and the band played Beat It by Michael Jackson. I’m very worried that Will can sing like Michael Jackson.
- They played “Faithfully” and many in the crowd hung up lighters. Someone must have given out red OLC lighters at the door.
- It was pure coincidence that we handed out logo lighters on 4/20. Please do not use these lighters to smoke your marijuana. I blessed the lighters, so if you use them for evil, they will blow up on you.
- We called an audible and talked about unity in the church. Philippians 2:1-5 was our text for the morning. If you’re a leafer and missed the message, please listen to it this week.
- The band played God of the City right before the message. And then our church sang it right after the message. Greater things are still to be done in this city. Very prophetic.
- I talked to the Oak Leaf family today…it was one of those family meeting kind of messages…and I really believe it was a word from the Lord.
- I am proud to be the pastor of a church that cares more about what God thinks than what people thing. The whole church makes me proud.
- I’m ready to hit the ground running this week. We have a mission, and we’re off to the races. Like Paul, I’m setting my eyes on the goal.
- Finally, you gotta check out this story from Jonathan’s blog. Did I mention that our church makes me proud?

The “Rock Band” on PS2 was awesome. Keilen, Marcus and Jamie did a great job. Matt Moody did a wonderful Bon Jovi. He’s really got it and I told him so. They all looked like they were having too much fun.
What Michael had to say hit home. I’ve been in church a long time and have found that most of the time, there is nothing but confusion. When the church (being the Christ-followers) works as one unit with the goal in mind, it will be successful. Also, a church that focuses on children will be successful.
Because OLC is doing its best to follow the mission [taking people from where they are to where God wants them to be] its going to see the kingdom of God grow.
I feel that one of my gifts is to lift people up. Life brings people down so much that just a kind word, a hug, and a prayer can bring folks out of the doldrums and help them find the way to the mountain top.
[...] not Uniformity! Posted on April 20, 2008 by mattshultz Today Michael brought a great message for the those of us who call Oakleaf Church our home. It was a message that served as a milepost in [...]
Michael:
I enjoyed the “family” talk Sunday. I also agree we (the church) should move forward. Do you hear a “but” here? Ok, yes you do. I would respectfully suggest we/you not suggest any thought or encouragement of attenders going to another church. Some folks will take that suggestion as abrasive and will “talk” it up, so to speak. I completely understand your position, would suggest allowing God to determine when/if a person/family should go elsewhere. I think He is still in control. You are doing a good job, move forward.
